Invitational National Strategic Planning Summit on Digital Equity

National Education Association Headquarters

1201 16th Street, NW

Washington, DC 20036-3290

Invitees:

At this unprecedented national summit, 75 to 100 thought leaders from the following sectors will come together for an intensive working session to craft a national strategic plan to close the digital divide for America’s low-income learners of all ages, in support of educational and economic opportunity:

·      Community and school system leaders – e.g., school board members, superintendents, community tech centers

·      Digital equity funders – e.g., foundations, bank community reinvestment and corporate giving leaders

·      Ed tech researchers

·      State and national association leaders and policy makers

·      Digital equity resource providers – e.g., affordable broadband, devices, open educational resources, multilingual tech support, media literacy and cybersafety.

Goals:

Our commitment is to craft clear statewide and national strategies to:

1.     Educate community and school system leaders on how to craft plans and funding proposals for local systemic digital equity efforts keyed to local priorities for educational and economic opportunity.

2.     Educate funders regarding why and how to invest in digital equity efforts which are sufficiently multidimensional (i.e., “systemic”) that they’re very likely to succeed.

3.     Tap ed teach researchers’ knowledge of evidence-based practices and spur new knowledge needed for successful digital equity policy and practice.

4.     Engage state and national association leaders in crafting dissemination and professional development initiatives as well as improved state and federal policies.
